30 km from Pauri situated
on the banks of Alaknanda river, Srinagar was
once the capital of the Garhwal kings before
the arrival of British. Even today, it is one
of the biggest township of the district and
is the seat of the Garhwal University. It is
located at the junction of roads from Kotdwar,
Rishikesh, Tehri-Garhwal and Badrinath. In the
ancient times, Srinagar was an important centre
for art and architecture. |
